GETTING STARTED

Mary Zakordonski
Alberta Marriage Commissioner

In Alberta, your ceremony may be a religious ceremony (performed by religious representatives) or a civil ceremony (performed by a marriage commissioner authorized by Ministerial appointment). An Alberta marriage commissioner is a person authorized to legally perform weddings here in Alberta.

In Canada, under the Civil Marriage Act (assented to July 20, 2005): “Marriage, for civil purposes, is the lawful union of two persons to the exclusion of all others.”

Please visit the Province of Alberta/Service Alberta website providing all the necessary official ceremony requirements, details about getting married in Alberta, married last name information, Alberta marriage commissioner listing, and a listing of all the registry offices in Alberta.

Contact me and we can discuss the necessary legal requirements.
